From Spokane to PGA Tour Dreams: Tye Anderson’s Incredible Journey of Perseverance & Faith
Hi friends,
Welcome back to The Invested Life! Every great story starts with a man on a journey — and today I’m thrilled to share one of the most inspiring ones we’ve ever featured.
I’m Dan Cantillana, and this episode sets a record: our youngest guest ever, Tye Anderson. This young man has big dreams, serious grit, and a testimony that will encourage anyone chasing a goal.
Tye’s Bold Vision
Right out of the gate, Tye declared his goal with confidence:
“Make it to the PGA Tour, be the best player in the world — and glorify God along the way.”
That’s the kind of vision we love on this show. If you believe in dreams and the power of going after them, keep reading.
Growing Up in Spokane & Discovering Golf Late
Tye grew up in Spokane playing basketball and soccer. Golf? He didn’t touch a club seriously until the summer before high school. One fun round with a friend changed everything.
He shot 100+ that first day… and fell in love with the daily improvement. By freshman year he quit other sports, joined the Mead High School team (where he played with my sons), and never looked back.
Most D1 golfers start at age 6 or 7. Tye started at 14 — and still earned a scholarship to Weber State University. That alone is remarkable.
The Tough Road of College Recruitment
During COVID, rosters were unstable and Tye’s resume was short compared to kids who’d played tournaments for years. Many coaches told him he wasn’t ready — go to junior college or D3 first.
But Tye kept believing in himself. He told every coach: “Give me a chance and I won’t let you down.” Weber State saw his potential and gave him that shot. He’s now a proud D1 Wildcat.
Balancing Life as a Student-Athlete
Tye admitted his freshman year was rough — poor sleep, nutrition, and too much identity in golf. He learned the secret: ruthless organization and right priorities.
Planning every hour, honoring school, and making time for faith and relationships keeps him grounded.
The Day Everything Changed — Tye’s Faith Story
Driving alone to a tournament in Oregon, Tye felt empty and convicted. Listening to the Bible Caddy Podcast, he pulled over on the side of the road and gave his life to Christ.
That week he played the best golf of his life — not because he was focused on scores, but because his life was finally rooted in Jesus. He got baptized last summer and now brings teammates to church.
“Sometimes you have to reach rock bottom to know that Jesus is the rock.”
Dan’s Musing: “Leave No Doubt”
Tye’s story reminded me of my son Cameron’s high school battle for the final varsity spot. After months of grinding, the coach made them compete one last time at districts.
I looked Cameron in the eye and said: “Son, go down there and leave no doubt.”
He won the entire tournament. That day still makes me tear up. Whether you’re a young athlete or a seasoned leader — when the moment comes, leave no doubt.
Your Law of 72 Challenge
You have 72 hours to act on what you heard today:
- Write down one big dream and the next step toward it
- Re-order your priorities with Jesus at the center
- Find or become a mentor who will tell you to “leave no doubt”
Do the small things daily. The big dreams are waiting.
Final Thought
Love well. Do good.
Whether you’re 18 or 58, your journey isn’t over. Set the goal. Persevere through the valleys. Keep your eyes on Jesus. He’s writing a story better than you can imagine.
I love you and I’m cheering for you.
Love well, do good.
